This hearty, flavorful baked bean recipe is perfect for family dinners, tailgates, or any time you want a little comfort food magic. With crispy Bright Leaf Bacon, local ground beef, and North Carolina's Bright Leaf Hot Dogs, it’s sure to be a hit!
Ingredients:
- (1) Pack of Bright Leaf Bacon
- (1) Pack of Bright Leaf Hot Dogs
- 2 lbs. of Ground Beef
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 1 Cup of Ketchup
- 2 Tbsp. of Mustard
- ⅓ Cup of Brown Sugar
- (1) 55 oz. Can of Baked Beans (e.g., Bush's®)
- (2) 15 oz. Can of Great Northern Beans
- (1) 15 oz. Can of Pinto Beans
Cooking Instructions:
- Cook Bright Leaf Bacon: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook bacon until crispy, about 10–12 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cool.
- Cook Beef: In another skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, 5–7 minutes. Drain any grease.
- Fry Bright Leaf Hot Dogs: In the same skillet, add the diced Bright Leaf hot dogs and fry until lightly browned, 3–5 minutes.
- Mix Everything in the Slow Cooker: Combine the crumbled bacon, cooked ground beef, fried hot dogs, onion, ketchup, mustard, and brown sugar. Add all the beans (don’t drain). Stir well.
- Cook Low and Slow: Cover and cook on Low for 4–4.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until everything is hot and bubbly.
