Do you want to know what the ultimate gourmet hot dog is? It is THIS ONE, my friend! This dog started as a Carolina style hot dog with mustard, onions, chili, and slaw. Then it was kicked up a notch by being stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and plated on a bed of mac and cheese, but you can use a bun or a couple of slices of white bread if you’d prefer!
Ingredients & Toppings:
- One 1 lb Bag of Bright Leaf Hot Dogs or 1 lb Bag of Bright Leaf Red Hots
- 1 Pack of Bright Leaf Bacon
- One 10 oz. Container of Bright Leaf Chili
- Tillamook Cheese
- Mac and Cheese
- Mustard
- Slaw
- Diced Onions

Cooking Instructions:
- Grab Bright Leaf Hot Dogs, Bacon, Chili, and the other ingredients you need!
- Preheat grill (or oven) to 350 degrees.
- Remove hot dogs and Red Hots from the bag, and slice down the middle. (Do not cut all the way through!)
- Cut cheese into several ¼” slices to fit in hot dogs and Red Hots.
- Take a slice of bacon, wrap it around hot dog end to end, and secure with two toothpicks: one on each end. Repeat until all hot dogs, and Red Hots are stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon.
- Place on grill (or on a rack over a foil-lined cookie sheet), cut side up, and cook for 30 minutes or until bacon is crispy.
- Once hot dogs and Red Hots are done, plate accordingly, whether atop a bed of homemade mac n cheese, a hot dog bun, or a slice of white bread.
- Top with yellow mustard, Bright Leaf chili, slaw, then diced onions.
- Enjoy!
